On Saturday, the Stellarton Fire Department held their annual banquet to recognize the accomplishments of several members.
This year’s Master of Ceremonies was town councillor George Megeney. Chaplain Rev. Charles MacPherson gave the opening prayer. The Thorburn Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary catered the function. The recipients of awards this year included three firefighters with five years service each and one member with 40 years.
Lieutenant Dave Murray, firefighters James MacKenzie and Mike Dean all received Five-Year Service pins, while firefighter Brian Campbell received a 40-Year Exemplary Service (Second Bar) for his long service to the department.
Following the dinner, a reception was held in the Oak Room lounge. Lieutenant Terry Lee McChesney presented a very entertaining slide presentation of the years past events.
