An answer may soon be found to who has the best pizza in Pictou County.
Over the years, there has been much discussion over which Pictou County restaurant makes the best pizza – and why. Is it the sauce? The dough? The ingredients? It is a passionate debate.
To help settle this important question, the Rotary Club of New Glasgow is holding the first annual “Pictou County’s Best Pizza Competition.” This event is a community fundraiser to support the club’s projects.
Local restaurants will compete with each other for bragging rights. Local ‘celebrity’ judges will use an impartial blind tasting process to sample the offerings and choose the winner. People attending the event will also have the opportunity to vote for the ‘People’s Choice’ winner.
Six local restaurants have already stepped forward to put their dough, sauce, cheese and toppings on the line:
– Cafe Italia
– Crown Pizza Pictou
– East Side Pizza
– Sam’s Pizza (Stellarton)
– Sam’s Pizza (Trenton)
– Ted’s Pizza
Any other restaurants interested in participating have until this Friday to sign on.
People attending the event will have the opportunity to taste and compare each pizza while enjoying two beers provided by Pictou County’s Uncle Leo’s Brewery in Lyons Brook. In addition, a cash bar will be available.
The event will take place April 26 from 7 to 10 p.m. at Glasgow Square, New Glasgow. Tickets are $25 each and go on sale April 2. Tickets will be available from Glasgow Square, Rotarians or Scotiabank.
