For a small price that goes to Kinsmen and Kinette activities, you can put your boss in the slammer.

Have you ever been at work and wished that you could get a power play on your boss? Ever wished, even for just a brief moment, that you were in control and the buck stopped with you?

Well thanks to the New Glasgow Kinsmen and Kinettes, you’ve got a chance to do just that in a big way.

The ‘Jail Your Boss’ fundraiser, presented by 94.1 East Coast FM, will allow you to gain the upper hand while support several worthwhile local causes.

“All the funds raised will go toward annual Kinsmen and Kinette projects,” said Tony Hessian, vice president of the New Glasgow Kinsmen. “We have supported Pictou County projects such as the wellness centre, SSF, United Way and in addition, provided over $90,000 annually to emergency requests.”

Celebrity judges will also be present to oversee the jail cells, conveniently located in the Highland Square Mall, North Nova Education Centre and Northumberland Regional High School.

Judges include Pictou Centre MLA Pat Dunn, Pictou East MLA Tim Houston, Big Brother Canada winner Jillian MacLaughlin, former NHL player Jon Sim, New Glasgow Mayor Barrie MacMillan and ECFM’s Ann MacGregor.

To have your boss jailed, phone 759-4899 anytime from now until May 31 and leave information on who you want to arrest; where you would the pick-up done; what date and time of pick up; how long you want to jail them for. You should also include the contact or the person requesting the jail time’s name and number as well.

The rate for seeing your superior behind bars is $1 a minute for a minimum of 30 minutes.

“It’s a fun fundraiser,” said Hessian. “This is likely the only time you could have your boss carted off to jail without repercussions.”

To add authenticity to the Jail Your Boss fundraiser, the Kinsmen and Kinettes have teamed up with Pictou County police departments including the RCMP, New Glasgow Westville and Stellarton. They’ll serve your boss with arrest papers then transport them in the back of a police car to the jail cell. The police will also provide transport back to the boss’s place of work.

All funds raised will go towards annual Kinsmen and Kinette Projects that include the breakfast program for schools, power skating, Christmas families, baseball program, Roots for Youth, help line, fuel fund and Kinette bursaries.

Pictures are available for $5 each and the jail will be open the on the following dates:
