NEW GLASGOW - The Reason for Hope Society made a donation of $10,000 to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation Atlantic last night at Glasgow Square.

This donation came from funds raised during the annual Reason for Hope Concert held Nov. 1 at Glasgow Square Theatre.

The evening also featured a performance by Toronto-based New Glasgow native Mary Stewart.

Mary is the daughter of Reason for Hope founder, the late Emma Lee Stewart. Mary, who is currently on tour in Atlantic Canada in support of her CD “Chances Are I Like You,” is laying the groundwork for her third CD to be released in 2015.

“It seems only fitting that we make our donation for cancer research when Mary is in the area” said Reason for Hope Chair Jim Stewart in a release. “She performed at all of our past events and played an instrumental role in creating the Reason for Hope CD Project. It’s our way of saying thank you to all who have made this donation possible.”
