LANSDOWNE – Jim Crawford holds out a cup filled with a clear liquid. It doesn’t look like much – in fact it just looks like water.
NEW GLASGOW – The Town of New Glasgow announced at town council Monday that Verhagen Demolition Ltd. received the contract to demolish the Maritime Building on Provost Street in New Glasgow.
The project, which is scheduled to begin in August with hazardous materials removal, will cost the town $1,031,000. CAO Lisa MacDonald said the hazardous materials portion of the project is expected to take approximately two months. Following that the demolition of the physical structure will begin.
MacDonald also stated that this has been a long-standing project for the town because they are not the owner of the property and therefore have had some legal issues to work through during the process.
