House fire leads to discovery of pot plants
CARIBOU RIVER – A 50-year-old man will appear in Pictou provincial court at a later date on a charge of producing marijuana.
Colchester RCMP arrested a Pictou driver after a pursuit near the Bible Hill detachment.
At approximately 4:30 a.m. Saturday morning, RCMP responded to a report of an erratic driver.
The suspect drove aggressively around the detachment, driving across the lawn and through ditches and failed to stop for police.
Officers pursued the vehicle through the town of Truro, where Truro Police Service provided assistance.
The driver proceeded to highway 102 where he continued to drive dangerously posing risk to other motorists and responding officers.
The pursuit ended in the town of Stewiacke when the driver struck an RCMP police vehicle head-on.
The 18-year-old driver from Pictou was arrested and both the driver and police officer involved were transported to the Colchester-East Hants Hospital.
The officer was treated for non-life threatening injuries and has been released.
The driver remains in police custody while receiving treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
No members of the public were injured during this incident.
