Police remind residents to clean green bins after bear spotted in Trenton

New Glasgow Regional Police are reminding residents to keep their green bins clean after a recent bear spotting in Trenton.

The bear was spotted earlier this week near Strickland Avenue and 14th Street.

They recommend cleaning compost bins with Javex and keeping scraps inside until garbage collection day to avoid attracting bears into neighbourhoods.

Police are referring people to DNR’s website for further tips on how to keep bears at bay.

They’re asking residents to contact police or DNR if they see bears.
