Kinsmen chicken barbeque a success

The Annual New Glasgow Kinsmen Chicken Barbeque at Glasgow Square appears to have been a success.

The plume of savoury smoke has been rising since the early hours of this morning around Glasgow Square where the Kinsmen set up shop this year.

As of noon they had already sold more than 1800 orders and were hoping to finish selling more.

For $12, you recieve a half chicken, roll, cucumber and tomato. Proceeds from the barbeque go toward the Kinsmen Minor Baseball program.

Kinsman Nick MacGregor said the group began setting up the long fire pit late Thursday night at the new venue in the Glasgow Square Parking lot.

"We actually started laying the blocks between two rows of cars but thankfully all the cars were out when we got the grills ready at 4 a.m."

Walk up-sales go until 1 p.m. or until sold out.
