Red Cross aids family after Bridgeville fire

BRIDGEVILLE - An extended family of five is unhurt, but their home in Bridgeville was gutted by fire Wednesday afternoon.

A woman, her daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren ages 11 and seven, are staying with relatives for now. Disaster volunteers from the Canadian Red Cross have helped with emergency purchases including clothing and food and personal-care items.

The fire was reported at approximately 3:30 p.m. at 4331 East River West Side Road. There was no immediate word on the cause.
