Accused going to trial on drug possession charges

PICTOU – An Inverness County man pleaded not guilty in Pictou Provincial Court Monday to possessing multiple illegal drugs.

Michael Lewis MacPhail, 25, is charged with possessing in excess of 30 grams of cannabis marijuana, in excess of one gram of cannabis resin, cocaine, hydromorphone and oxycontin. He was arrested by RCMP on May 9 in Barneys River.  

He will stand trial on the charges on Dec. 11.

A second man, Justin Francis Goswell, also of Inverness County, has yet to enter pleas on the same charges. He will return to court Sept. 2.
