MOUNT WILLIAM – The Pictou County Wellness Centre will have a new general manager in the near future.

The specific date has yet to be set, but current general manager Mike Adam confirmed he will be leaving the position to return to Newfoundland with his family. He added that he wouldn’t comment further during the hiring process.

“Mike was with us throughout the growing pains of launching a new facility and the position required lots of effort and dedication,” said Barrie MacMillan, mayor of New Glasgow and chair of the Pictou County Wellness Centre Building Authority. “We wish Mike and his family well and every success with his future endeavours.”

The job posting for the position, which Adam has held prior to the facility opening, has been posted on the facilities website with a closing date of Aug. 15. MacMillan said that Nustadia, in consultation with the building authority, are actively seeking the new general manager.

“The authority's directors are looking forward to working with Nustadia and the new general manager, who will play a key role in moving the Wellness Centre forward as a vital recreational and community facility for Pictou County,” said MacMillan. “There is tremendous potential for our facility to continue to develop and grow.”
