HOPEWELL - Pictou District RCMP are investigating the cause of a collision between a Chevrolet Impala and a logging truck on Aug. 5.

Emergency crews responded to a 911 call of a head-on collision between the car and a fully loaded logging truck at 1:23 p.m.

Preliminary investigation determined that the Impala driven by a 67-year-old Pictou County woman had crossed over the centre line into the oncoming northbound lane on Highway 374. The truck veered to the right over the small embankment and

overturned onto its right side.

The driver of the Impala, who suffered minor injuries from the seatbelt and airbag deployment, was transported to the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow for treatment.  Police are crediting these life-saving devices in preventing serious injury or death.

The driver of the truck was not injured. RCMP are continuing to investigate.
