Discrimination against two-spirit indigenous people linked to suicide crisis

A Sydney woman is dead following a motorcycle crash on at Exit 12 in Masstown off Highway 104 west.
At about 1:40 p.m. Aug. 8, RCMP, Emergency Health Services paramedics and Debert Fire Department responded to a report of a motorcycle crash on the Exit 12 ramp involving a lone rider.
A preliminary investigation determined that the female rider lost control of her vehicle and went over the guardrail.
The 53-year-old woman from Sydney, who was traveling to Prince Edward Island, was pronounced dead at the scene.
An RCMP traffic analyst is assisting investigators. Traffic was delayed near the scene for about three hours.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Sgt. Alain LeBlanc said the road was dry and it was overcast at the time of the crash.
