The Canadian Bible Society, Pictou East and West branches, want to find out and are holding a Bible story writing competition.

While most people know the story of Noah’s Ark and the Christmas story, there are many other lesser-known stories in the Bible, says member Nancy Langille. For the contest, the society wants to hear the stories in people’s own words and what significance they have for today or the writer personally.

Stories should be no longer than 500 words and not have any fictional additions. Writers are asked to include the Bible book (Genesis, Numbers, etc.), chapter and verses they are writing about. The contest is open to all ages and will end Sept. 1.

There will be three judges for the contest including an English teacher, an author and a member of the clergy. First, second and third prizes will be announced later.

Contestants may enter more than once. Submissions along with your name and a way to contact you can be sent by email to [email protected], or drop it off to The News office on Temperance Street in New Glasgow or The Advocate office on George Street in Pictou.
