STELLARTON – A Stellarton businessman is reoffering for council in this month’s municipal byelection.

Stan Mayich, who served on council from 2004-2008, says he wants to continue his work with the town and representing the people of Ward II.

“I’m ready to bring four years of experience on council back to the table for the people of Ward II,” said Mayich. “I’m looking forward to serving the people of Ward II again if I win the seat.”

Born and raised in Stellarton, Mayich has been married for 38 years to Earla. Together, they loved and cared for four children – sons Stan and Jeff, and two daughters, now deceased, Pamela and Amanda. They also opened their home and hearts by providing foster care to children in need.

Mayich has been a successful businessman in the town for the past 38 years, where he’s owned and operated Mayich’s Hairstyling for Men.

He was a longtime member of the Stellarton Fire Department for more than 30 years and is now retired.

Mayich was a volunteer with Stellarton Minor Hockey and is active in Our Lady of Lourdes Church.

The Stellarton byelection for the council seat left vacant by the death of Bo Linthorne will be held on Nov. 27.
