“I had no idea you had all of this in Lyons Brook!” was the oft-repeated exclamation at the first Buy Local event hosted by Lyons Brook Women’s Institute this past spring. Following upon the resounding success of the first community business showcase, a fall version will take place in the Community Hall Saturday, Oct. 4, from 8:30 a.m. until noon.
Many of the businesses that participated in the first Buy Local will be returning, to be joined by several new participants totalling 16 businesses in all.
Whether the quest is local goodies for Thanksgiving, some early hand crafted Christmas gifts, building supplies or a contractor, “The Brook” has a wide variety to offer.
Just down the road the Scotsburn Community Coalition will be holding, with free admission, the Scotsburn Makers Market at the Scotsburn Elementary School the same day from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. to promote local artisans, service providers, business owners and groups.
