Canadians across the country urged to show patriotism at local cenotaphs

In light of the recent events in Ottawa, a Facebook page called The Canadian Soldier/Le Soldat Canadien is calling for Canadians, coast to coast, to show their pride.

Saturday, at 10 a.m. local time, all are invited to show support for those whom the page calls our downed and wounded of the last few days.

This it will be held at any cenotaph of your choosing and participation is strictly voluntary

“This will also be a show of support for our great country Canada,” read the Facebook post.

The page noted that many would be participating in Edmonton.

“We would like to show these despicable cowards that we may have taken a kick but all it has done has strengthened our resolve,” it reads. “All are welcome to show we will not be intimidated, brow beaten nor will we retreat.”

Please pass this along not only to military personnel and veterans but also the civilian population.

The Facebook page was created to allow soldiers, friends of soldiers and supporters to share news, poems and jokes that are related to the military and are Canadian in nature or are value.
