Venturing past Cavelle and Scott Hughes’ entryway, their décor becomes evident with touches of silver, red and green.
They’re preparing for a Christmas Home Tour, taking place on Sunday.
“A lot of people look forward to coming here,” Cavelle says, adding that she finds the decorating relaxing and gives her a chance to be creative.
Each room and tree is a different theme, with eight trees in total, including a small one in their bathroom.
This is the third time they’ve participated in a holiday home tour, all for separate charities.
The two-home tour this year is a fundraiser for New Glasgow Academy and its enhancements.
“People get their own ideas,” Cavelle suggests as the reason the tours are so popular.
Scott gives the credit to Cavelle for their decorations.
She has built up a large collection of trimmings, only a small portion of which are hanging inside her home already.
She has spent three weeks furnishing their home and still has a few final touches to add.
Tickets are $10 a person and can be purchased at New Glasgow Junior High, Acadia Street School, Temperance Street School, Big Al’s Convenience, and New Glasgow’s town office.
The tour runs from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Kathryn and Mark Anderson’s home at 89 High Street in New Glasgow and the Hughes’ house at 2194 Queen Street in Westville.
