Safety improvements made to an intersection are not enough to satisfy county councillors.
Warden Robert Parker said recently that the province has studied the Abercrombie and Trenton intersection and has recommended that the signal heads be larger, as well as improving signage and pavement markings in the area. But he has doubts this will really slow down traffic in the area.
He said speeds and head on collisions are known to happen at his intersection and it is an area that sees steady traffic including school buses and heavy equipment, so the goal should be to slow down traffic at this intersection.
“A roundabout is a way to accomplish that, but there are other ways,” he said. “A four-way stop would work.”
