With summer officially here, the deCoste is inviting residents to celebrate the season with a true Maritime cultural experience.
On Tuesday, July 10, the deCoste will be staging their ever-popular lobster dinner theatre featuring the ‘one-man’ musical theatre presentation “Salt Water in Your Socks.” This well-known and loved production stars Pictou’s own John Spyder Macdonald returning to his role as skipper Kevin Corkum.
The production, written by Paul Ledoux, is the heartwarming story of the life and times of a Maritime fisherman brought to life through some spine-tingling tales of life on the ocean and plenty of comedic moments. The uplifting show is made complete with original music by Alastair Macdonald that is delivered with true authenticity by Spyder.
“Where else can you get a quarter pound of shelled lobster, potato salad, fresh rolls, dessert and a terrific live performance for only $35?” states Jennifer MacLennan, marketing manager. “It’s also a great way to celebrate our own local fishermen. Kind of the true final event to the long-running Pictou Lobster Carnival being held this year from July 6-8.”
She reminds anyone considering attending the performance to purchase tickets early to allow the deCoste staff proper time to plan and order food in advance. A cash bar will also be available. Tickets can be purchased by contacting the deCoste Centre box office at 902-485-8848, 1-800-353-5338, online at decostecentre.ca or in person at 99 Water St., Pictou, Monday to Friday from 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
