Fire Chief Jason Pitts said the home was fully engulfed in flames when the department arrived.
No one was in the home at the time, he said.
In addition to West River, Alma, Scotsburn and Westville fire departments responded.
Pitts said the call came in around 8:15 p.m. Monday and crews were on site until 7 a.m. Tuesday morning.
He said the conditions were terrible throughout the night with strong winds and rain. They also had to deal with trees down on some roads.
He said he’s thankful they had the automatic aid in place, which allowed other fire departments to arrive quickly to help.
“It makes a difference in rural communities,” he said.
