Theresa Dewar, an LPN at Glen Haven for more than 40 years, has been awarded a provincial Award of Excellence from the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Nova Scotia.
Dewar received her award at a provincial awards ceremony held in late spring in Dartmouth during the College of Licences Practical Nurses of Nova Scotia’s awards and annual banquet.
This award recognizes LPNs whose dedication to the nursing profession is evident by their competence in their everyday practice and commitment to the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics for LPNs in Canada. This LPN is often recognized by their peers as one who contributes to the advancement of the profession of practical nursing and health care in general through their participation in community activities, dedication to collaborative practice and innovative outlook on practice.

Glen Haven nominated Dewar for the award. In the nomination, she was described as a one-of-a-kind, self-motivated professional with great skill, dedication and compassion who always leads by example and with great integrity and kindness.
