NEW GLASGOW – Several local students have been awarded entrance scholarships for the 2010-2011 academic year from the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton.

The recipients are:

– Emily Jayne Dicks, New Glasgow, North Nova Education Centre, arts, Edwin Jacob Special University Scholarship, $250; Ward Chipman Founder's Scholarship, $500.

– Erin Fraser, New Glasgow, North Nova Education Centre, nursing, Governor Thomas Carleton Scholarship, $1,000.

– Jonathan Kerr, New Glasgow, North Nova Education Centre, geomatics engineering, Edwin Jacob Special University Scholarship, $1,000.

– Morgan MacKinnon, Merigomish, North Nova Education Centre, arts, Edwin Jacob Special University Scholarship, $250; Ward Chipman Founder's Scholarship, $500.

– Kristy MacQuarrie, Hopewell, Northumberland High School, kinesiology, Khaki University & Y.M.C.A. Scholarship, $400; William and Lois Paine Founder's Scholarship, $1,500.

– Amanda Rudolph, Trenton, North Nova Education Centre, business administration, Edwin Jacob Special University Scholarship, $250; Ward Chipman Founder's Scholarship, $500.

– Erin Simpson, New Glasgow, North Nova Education Centre, science, Edwin Jacob Special University Scholarship, $250; Ward Chipman Founder's Scholarship, $500.
