Local students do well at Heritage Fair

TRURO – River John Consolidated student Natilie Scotland is a delegate to the 2015 Nova Scotia Provincial Heritage Fair, after competing at the Chignecto-Central Regional Heritage Fair 2015 held at the Truro Campus of the Nova Scotia Community College on May 1.

A number of other Pictou County students received prizes at the fair. Hayley Murray of River John won the Cultural Expression Award, while Keely and Blayse Stevenson of G.R. Saunders won the Colchester Historical Society Award, and Katey Aucoin of G.R. Saunders won the Alumni Award for Grades 4 to 6.

Ben Hingley and Owen Chabassol of G.R. Saunders Elementary won a Merit Award for their project entitled "Acadians." Merit awards were also given to River John Consolidated students Evangelina O'Brien, Elizabeth Heighton, Jennie MacLean, Olivia O'Brien and Demetria O'Brien and G.R. Saunders students Sasha Austin and Ella Skelton.

Achievement certificates were given to:
