NEW GLASGOW - Several local students are the recipients of entrance scholarships from the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton.

Northumberland Regional High School student Matthew Williams of Green Hill, is the recipient of a $2,000 Edwin Jacob Special University Scholarship. He is pursuing studies in geomatics engineering.

From North Nova Education Centre, New Glasgow resident Melissa Jean Cruickshank received the Ward Chipman Founder's Scholarship, valued at $500, as she pursues studies in kinesiology.

Classmate Tyler Haymon of Thorburn also received a $500 Ward Chipman Founder's Scholarship to study computer science.

Holly Anne Martin of New Glasgow, who also attends NNEC, will receive the $500 Ward Chipman Founder's Scholarship. She is pursuing studies in kinesiology.

From Pictou, Jami Fillier, who is pursuing a career in nursing, will receive the Ward Chipman Founder's Scholarship, valued at $500.
