NEW GLASGOW – Gail Gosbee is known in New Glasgow for offering great customer service at her store Ekim Fashion on Provost Street. She has owned the women’s fashion and accessories business for 10 years and now she’s expanding her client base with the opening of a second store on the Halifax waterfront.

The Halifax store had its official opening on Monday.

“It was an emotional day,” Gosbee said, adding that she had been planning on opening a second store in the city for about two years. “Everything went wonderful. There was a lot of positive comments, everybody was so pleased with how it looked and the prices and everybody seemed to have really good feedback.”

Gosbee said she wanted to expand her business to Halifax when she saw her New Glasgow store thriving.

“I wanted to expand because the New Glasgow store is doing so well,” she said. “So I just thought I’d open another one.”

While many businesses have come and gone in New Glasgow over the past 10 years, Ekim Fashion has remained. Gosbee said that’s due to hard work, expertise and focusing on customer service.

“It takes a lot of product knowledge, a lot of passion and a lot of determination,” she said. “And I love what I do.”

Gosbee will remain at the store in New Glasgow while a Halifax-based employee manages the Halifax shop.

“I have a wonderful manager up in Halifax and she’s worked for me before so she knows how I run things, she knows how I wait on customers she knows customer service is top priority and she’s got a very keen eye,” she said. “She’s very, very good.”

Gosbee’s Halifax shop is located at 1871 Upper Water Street. She said she chose the location because she liked the area, which receives plenty of foot traffic.

“I chose that location because there are historic properties and I just liked the area and my landlord was great,” she said.
