NEW GLASGOW – A 64-year-old man has been arrested and charged with child pornography following the search of a Stellarton home Tuesday.
The New Glasgow Police Internet Crime Exploitation Unit and the New Glasgow Police Major Crime Unit, with the assistance of the RCMP Atlantic Technology Crime Unit, executed a search warrant on a Cambridge Avenue residence in Stellarton 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
One man was arrested as a result of a three-month long online child exploitation investigation, said Const. Ken MacDonald.
He’s been charged with possession of child pornography, accessing child pornography and making available child pornography.
Further charges could be laid pending the completion of a forensic investigation of the computer equipment seized at the scene, MacDonald said. The seized items include four hard drives, a laptop computer and several modems.
The man was expected to be released from custody Tuesday evening on the condition that he does not have any access to a computer or the Internet, that he’s not around anyone under the age of 18 and does not go to places that children are known to be, like schools or playgrounds.
It’s expected that he’ll appear in Pictou provincial court in July to answer to the charges.
