Momentary Lapse is returning to the deCoste Performing Arts Centre stage.

The tribute show to Pink Floyd is Thursday, Aug. 23 at 7:30 p.m. to close out a successful Festival of Summer Sounds.

“It’s incredible to see the caliber of talent in Pictou County and the amazing home grown-productions,” said executive director Troy Greencorn.

After being inspired by a concert in Toronto several years ago by Pink Floyd’s lead guitarist David Gilmore, Murray MacIvor began discussing with fellow friend and musician, Steve Keough, about starting a band that played only Pink Floyd songs.

Once a few extra Nova Scotian musicians were approached to help round out the band. They began to practise for over two years until they felt they had perfected their performance. They also sourced visual effects of lights and videos to help create that same experience given by a Pink Floyd show, until they felt they had enough to take it to a real stage.

Their patience paid off as it proved to be a great success based on the sell-out performance they had at the deCoste last year, and equivalent sales at other venues since then.

Adding to their song repertoire this time around, the band will play some of their favourites from classic Pink Floyd albums like The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall, Momentary Lapse of Reason and The Division Bell.

Tickets can be purchased for $35 by contacting the deCoste Centre box office at 902-485-8848, toll free at 1-800-353-5338, online at decostecentre.ca/tickets, or in person at 99 Water Street, Pictou.
