An early Sunday morning fire has rendered one New Glasgow home a total write-off.
The New Glasgow Fire Department responded to a call at 2:15 a.m. of a structure fire on North Provost Street. When the crews arrived, the house was engulfed.
"Flames were coming right out of the roof of the house," said New Glasgow Fire Department Chief Doug Dort. "Trenton's fire department was called in to serve as back up for us."
The house's occupant was taken to hospital and is being treated for smoke inhalation.
Despite the home's location, there was little exposer of the heat and flames to other homes in the vicinity.
The fire crews were on scene about seven hours fighting the flames and cleaning the area once the fire was under control.
