Kicking off New Glasgow’s Pre-Canada Day party will be children’s activities from 3 to 7 p.m., consisting of inflatable bouncy castles, games, and more. The annual flag raising ceremony on the riverfront with take place with local dignitaries participating. At 7 p.m., the community is invited to the annual mayor’s ice cream social at the riverfront gazebo.
“We are very pleased and proud to present such a great lineup of local talent for our town’s celebration of Canada Day,” says New Glasgow Mayor Barrie MacMillan. “We look forward to welcoming residents of New Glasgow, Pictou County and visitors to the area for what promises to be a wonderful community gathering and opportunity to unite to celebrate this great nation of Canada that we are so fortunate to call home.
The entertainment from 7 to 10 p.m. will be headlined by E.B. Anderson & The Resolutes.
The Third Step, a five-piece local rock ’n’ roll band will also be performing as well as Cirque Du Lanque an electric jazz/fusion group made up of students in the St. FX Jazz Studies program.
The day’s celebrations conclude at 10 p.m. with a fireworks display.
