At approximately 4:15 p.m., New Glasgow Regional Police, Emergency Health Services and New Glasgow Fire Department attended the scene of a motor vehicle collision involving the pedestrian north of the intersection of North Provost Street and George Street, New Glasgow.
Preliminary investigation determined that the woman was walking northbound on the sidewalk on North Provost Street when a 72-year-old driver from Pictou County who was driving a 2013 Dodge Ram Truck was exiting the parking lot to make a right turn to travel southbound on North Provost Street when the truck collided with the pedestrian.
The Pictou County woman was transported to the Aberdeen Hospital with minor non life-threatening injuries. The driver of the 2013 Dodge Ram Truck suffered no injuries.
New Glasgow Regional Police have charged the driver under the Motor Vehicle Act with failing to yield to a pedestrian on a sidewalk. Also the driver was given a 7-day suspension under the Motor Vehicle Act for blood alcohol between .05 and .08.
