If you have a love for anything with a motor attached, you’ll want to be at the Scott Weeks Sports Complex in New Glasgow this weekend.

The 43rd annual Pictou County Show and Shine is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday and will feature everything from the days of Model As to exotic modern cars. There will also be a display by the Jeep 4X4 Club and even an antique snowmobile display as part of the event.

John Boutilier has been involved organizing the event for many years and loves the vehicles that are part of it every year, but said what he enjoys most isn’t the machines.

“It’s the people you get to know over the years,” he said.

Every year they come back, sometimes with new cars, and they keep changing things.

The show draws automobile enthusiasts from all various parts of the Maritimes and throughout Nova Scotia.

“There’s people from all walks of life – doctors, lawyers and mechanics.”

While about 90 per cent of the automobiles are antiques, there’s about 10 per cent that are sports cars, rat rods or just unusual vehicles.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 9 and June 10. Admission is $4. Children under 12 are admitted free if they’re accompanied by an adult. There will be a large prize draw for the public as well as an auction people can take part in.
