The Pictou County Sports Hall of Fame will not have to replace the sign in front of its building.
Representatives from both county and Pictou municipal councils announced earlier this month that the hall of fame was going to have to remove the existing sign currently located on the front lawn of the building because it didn’t meet government specifications.
Councillors expressed concern that new signage would cost the sports hall of fame money it doesn’t have a lot of since it operates on a low budget.
On Friday, Public Services and Procurement Canada issued a statement saying the signage in front of the Pictou County Hall of Fame can remain where it is.
“The department stated that is committed to working collaboratively with its tenant to ensure that any signage displayed on its assets meets the needs of tenants, clients and visitors alike. PSPC recognizes the unique and important role that the Pictou County Sports Hall of Fame plays in preserving the area’s rich sports heritage. After careful consideration, it was determined that the sign does not need to be replaced.”
