PICTOU – The Town of Pictou has reappointed its fire chief and deputy chief to their current positions.
Council announced Monday during its monthly meeting that Paul Janes would continue in the role of chief for the next five years while Blake Sarson would be deputy chief for the same period.
The roles opened up after the five-year term ended for Janes and Sarson. They each reapplied for the positions for an additional five years as did a few other applicants.
Council voted in favour of Janes and Sarson continuing in their positions for their final five-year term, but also urged those interested in the jobs this year to continue to learn from Janes and Sarson so they will be well equipped in future.
There was some discussion in council about staggering the time served by the fire chief and deputy chief so that both are not finished at the same time. It was agreed council would review its policy.
