Tom Dudka and Jana Sobey, manager of the Sobeys at the Aberdeen Mall, scoop seeds out of Dudka’s pumpkin Tuesday morning. The store and Dudka ran a contest the past two weeks asking patrons to guess how many seeds were in the pumpkin for a prize. The final count was 291 seeds. Out of the more than 1,000 entries no one guessed the correct amount so a draw was held to determine the winner of a $500 Sobeys gift card. The contest was also a fundraiser and $1,000 will be donated to the Pictou County Food Bank. Dudka said his giant pumpkin will be chopped up and put back into the ground. Next year he plans to grow bigger and better. AMY REUSCH – THE NEWS
