New Glasgow Mayor Nancy Dicks and Community Economic Development Advisory Committee member Emerson Dempsey admire the display set up at the Pictou County Wellness Centre.
The New Glasgow Community Economic Development Advisory Committee created the idea of displaying 150 hockey memories from the last 150 years in New Glasgow and Pictou County on 150 hockey pucks.
The information was compiled by Corey Hartling, a local sport historian, while Barry Trenholm of the Pictou County Sports Hall of Fame added a few as well.
Dicks said: “This project is a tangible reminder of just how rich the hockey history is in New Glasgow and all over Pictou County. The timing of this unveiling, with the announcement of Blayre Turnbull being announced as a player of the Women’s Olympic Hockey Team for 2018, shows that the talent in Pictou County continues.”
The case was locally built by Sartoris Construction, and the puck display was created by New Glasgow staff.
