Scotsburn Co-operative Services Limited announced today the sale of the Scotsburn Co-op Fuels business to Parkland Industries Ltd. (“Parkland”) effective May 1.

Scotsburn customers will be served by the Stellarton branch of Bluewave Energy, a subsidiary of Parkland with fuel delivery operations across Canada.

Parkland is Canada’s largest independent marketer and distributor of fuels, managing a nationwide network of sales channels for retail gasoline, commercial, wholesale and residential with offices in communities across Canada. We believe that Parkland, through its Bluewave division, is best positioned to maintain the values and standards of the company and to continue to grow and operate the business effectively.

There will be no interruption in the supply of petroleum or burner service to our customers during this transition to Bluewave Energy.

Scotsburn Co-operative Services Limited also announces that the Farm Services retail store located in Scotsburn, NS, will be phased out effective June 1, 2013.  Customers will be able to source supplies at the local Pictou Co-op Country Store in Linacy/ New Glasgow.

In a release the company stated that Scotsburn is strategically focused on growing the Ice Cream/ Novelty and Fluid Milk Divisions of the company.

"As a result, we are divesting the Farm Services store and the Co-op Fuels business to enable increased focus on our Ice Cream/ Novelty and Fluid Milk products," the release stated. "This realignment will better position Scotsburn to maintain its competitiveness as an innovative leader in the Dairy Products sector across Canada.

We thank our customers and the community for their support of these businesses over the past number of years."
