The Solar Electricity for Community Buildings Program is accepting applications from community organizations who want to reduce emissions by using the sun’s rays for energy.

The program, now in its second year, is open to Nova Scotian Mi'kmaq bands, registered non-profit or charitable organizations, municipalities or organizations owned by municipalities and universities or community colleges.

Projects can be up to 75 kilowatts. Applicants propose a price per kilowatt hour for the electricity they will generate. Successful organizations will enter into a 20-year agreement with their electric utility.

The Clean Foundation will independently evaluate submissions and select the successful projects.

Applications will be accepted until June 29. For more information, please visit novascotia.ca/solar.
