NEW GLASGOW – Police are investigating an act of vandalism at the apartment building located at 334 Temperance Street that occurred early Thursday morning.
New Glasgow Regional Police called at 1:45 a.m. after the suspect or suspects grabbed a fire extinguisher, threw it against a wall in a basement stairwell and set off the building’s fire alarm. The school itself is now a condominium and most residents were asleep at the time.
“Anybody interfering with fire safety equipment or making false alarms can face criminal charges and severe fines,” warned Const. Ken MacDonald.
He said that such acts can prevent emergency services – including police, firefighters and paramedics – from attending real emergencies elsewhere.
Anyone with information on this matter can call New Glasgow Regional Police at 902-752-1941.
