Three jury trials are slated to take place within the next five months in Pictou.

Three hundred and fifty jury summons have gone out to Pictou County residents recently for two upcoming trials in Pictou Supreme Court while a third is trial is scheduled for the New Year.

The first jury trial will be that of Dr. Rafid Al-Nassar who is charged with voyeurism in November 2016. Five-day have been set aside for trial which will start Sept. 17 with jury selection. The charge was laid in November 2016.

People who were summoned for the Al-Nassar trial will need to return in October when jury selection takes place for the trial of Arthur Stewart Baxter.

The New Glasgow man is charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, break and enter, possession of property for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime, and possessing break-in tools.

The charges were laid in relation to an alleged incident of Highway 4 in Pictou West in August 2017. Five days have also been set aside for this trial which will begin on Oct. 29 with jury selection.

New jury summons will be sent out for the January 2019 trial of Robert Jason MacKenzie who is charged with the second-degree murder in relation to the death of 33-year-old Nicole Campbell on Dec. 30, 2015.

Jury selection is slated to begin Jan. 7, 2019 and the trial is scheduled for four weeks.
