RIVER JOHN – The 10th annual Open Farm Day takes place across Nova Scotia this Sunday.
Three farms in Pictou County will participate in the daylong event that anyone can attend to experience the farming industry first hand.
Lismore Sheep Farm will have sheep and highland cows to see, interpretive displays in its barn about sheep and wool and wagon rides. The farm is located at 1389 Louisville Road off the Sunrise Trail and will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Seafoam Lavender Farm, which grows lavender, herbs and plants, will have demonstration on how to grow lavender and how to process it for cooking, household and skincare products. The farm will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is located at 3768 on Highway 6.
EarthArc Animal Respite Centre will have pony rides, wagon rides, games, scavenger hunts, barbecue and instruction on how to brush horses. The farm is located 644 Heron Road in Six Mile Brook and will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
