This year’s festival will take place Oct. 13-Oct. 15.

Trenton FallFest will kick off on Friday with the Street Fair from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Open Air Activity Centre on Main Street (across from town hall on Main Street).

The Street Fair will include a market featuring local vendors selling homemade items and baked goods, as well as some local direct sales vendors. New to the Street Fair this year will be more children’s activities, thanks to sponsorship from Sobeys.

There will be free face painting, games, and arts and crafts like chalk art. Children can also decorate their own Halloween mask to take home. Participants can also help keep the fall spirit alive once FallFest ends by helping decorate pumpkins to be distributed to local businesses throughout Trenton. Local musician Ashley George will entertain the crowd beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The Trenton Public Library is getting in the fall spirit with two events. Visit the library during regular business hours on Friday or Saturday for the Great Pumpkin Hunt. Search the library for six hiding pumpkins and receive a book from Adopt-a-Library Literacy Program. On Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will also be an Autumn Themed Crafty Saturday where you can make a craft to take home.

Saturday will go to the dogs at Trenton Park as Bender’s Bites hosts their first 3km Dog Jog and Canine Costume Contest from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This will be a fundraiser for Good Bones Dog Rescue.

Anyone interested in volunteering with Trenton FallFest can contact Trenton Parks and Recreation at [email protected] or by calling 752-1019.

Other Activities:

• Judges will be on site to crown the best costume plus there will be giveaways and products to be won. There will also be a BBQ on site and $5 nails trims for pets. Pre-registration is required by contacting 753-6188. Cost is $15 per team and includes contest entry, door prizes and a good bag for participants.

• The Friends of Trenton Park Society will present a family friendly matinee to follow at the Trenton Park Pavilion Building (behind the pool) featuring “The Dog Who Saved Halloween.” This is a free showing, sponsored by Sullivan Fuels. Popcorn and drinks will be available for $1 each.

• The Spooktacular Skate will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Trenton Rink. This free family on-ice costume party is sponsored by Active Pictou County
