A tractor-trailer hit a home and fire hydrant at the intersection of Cowan, North Main and Dufferin streets, causing a “considerable amount of water” to be lost and damage to the side of the home.
Westville Police Chief Donnie Hussher said the driver was sent to hospital and the homeowner, who was in the living room of the house at the time of the collision, was treated on scene.
“Right now, we’re just continuing the investigation,” he said, adding that the truck will be impounded and they’ll be following up with witnesses and the driver to determine what happened.
He said the extent of the damage to the home isn’t yet known, but it’s the second major accident involving the home in recent years.
A portion of North Main Street was closed during the response.
