Bridgeville, N.S.
There was a steady stream of people coming and going from the Bridgeville Community Centre in Pictou County on Sunday, Sept. 15 as dozens took part in the annual Terry Fox event.
Participants could either walk, run or bike.
Laila Long of Hopewell, has been a regular participant but it’s become more personal for her after her own battle with cancer in recent years.
“I got radiation and I’m doing OK,” she said, but she knows many who haven’t been as fortunate. She’s personally lost two brothers and a niece to the disease.
Marilyn Himmelman also believes it’s important to honour the efforts Terry Fox made and remember those who have lost their lives to cancer. She personally lost her husband and other close relatives.
On Sunday she took part in the walk with her granddaughter Karli.
A walk was also held in Pictou.
