In a Trenton factory alone, 1,500 railway cars were being made for shipments in one summer. They were described as the strongest designed so far, each having a capacity of more than 55 tons.

This 2.5 minute clip is just one segment of a total of 106 World War II newsreels filmed by the Canadian Army Film Unit that document the infantry in training, the front lines and the war efforts back at home.

The War Amps is releasing a newsreel every week on its YouTube channel at YouTube.com/warampsofcanada, a two-year project that will make the complete set of Canadian Army Newsreels available to the public for the first time online.
