PICTOU – A Pictou County man accused of evading police for five months made a brief appearance in Pictou provincial court Tuesday.

Shawn Michael Bonvie, 36, was located in Halifax earlier this week after a warrant was issued for his arrest in relation to an alleged robbery at the Glasgow Pub in New Glasgow.

Bonvie is charged with robbery with violence as well as unlawful confinement and uttering threats on Oct. 12, 2017.

New Glasgow Police issued a statement in October stating a lone suspect entered the Glasgow Pub and demanded money. Police say one staff member was present and was grabbed, assaulted and forced into a room. Another employee suffered minor injuries. Police say the suspect fled the scene with money.

He also faces an unrelated charge of sexual assault from the same day as well as a charge of failing to appear in court on Dec. 11, 2017.

Bonvie has consented to being held in custody until his next court appearance on March 26.
