PICTOU – A Masstown man charged with multiple weapon offences has entered not guilty pleas.

James Falt, 31, is charged with pointing a firearm, assault by threatening to use a weapon, confinement, assault, mischief, possession of a firearm while prohibited and two breaches of court orders in relation to an alleged incident in Sobeys in Pictou in mid- November.

RCMP say Falt allegedly assaulted a 23-year-old woman on Veterans Drive with a loaded handgun, left the scene and was spotted by police as he entered Sobeys. Police say they found a loaded handgun in one of the store’s garbage bins.

His trial will take place on June 27 and 28 in Pictou provincial court. He has consented to be remanded into custody until a bail hearing can be held.


Trial coming for man accused of tickets theft

PICTOU – A Trenton charged with possessing stolen break-open lottery tickets will return to Pictou provincial court Feb. 27 to set a trial date.

Paul Ivan Jeans, 40, is charged with theft under $5,000 in relation to an alleged incident in Plymouth in April 2016. He has entered not guilty pleas to the charge.


Man faces charges of possessing child porn

PICTOU – A Westville man charged with possessing child pornography will return to provincial court Tuesday.

A publication ban is in place to protect the identity of the alleged victims in the case. The 19-year is charged with three counts of possession of child pornography in February, May and October of 2017. He also charged with accessing child pornography from July 4 to Aug. 2, 2017.

No pleas have been entered yet.


July trial on drug and weapons charges

PICTOU – A Westville man will have his trial heard in July on a wide range of drug and weapon charges.

Peter Alvin DeWolfe, 53, of Mountville is charged with trafficking a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and failure to comply with a judicial recognizance in relation to a search and seizure at a commercial business in Westville in September.

He is also facing multiple weapon charges related to an alleged incident on Aug. 31. He entered not guilty pleas to all of the charges.

DeWolfe’s trial will take place from July 4 to 6 in Pictou provincial court.
