The New Glasgow Farmers Market is inviting prospective new vendors to sign up on its web page as it gears up for an exciting summer season.

This year, New Glaswegians can expect a midsummer night market on July 12 to celebrate the 10-year birthday of the Farmers Market, complete with live music, as well as a Hawaiian luau pig roast party on July 28. Peak season kicks off on May 19.

“We are having more farmers here this year, which is fantastic,” said market manager Kristi Russell.

She said would-be sellers can apply online and must receive final approval to see if they meet the correct fit, balance and current needs of the market.

Russell said that maintaining a good fit was essential for a successful market, as the same items cannot be sold by many different vendors.

Setting up a stall at the market also depends on the space and number of sinks available.

“We want our customers to have the best possible selection, but we need our vendors to be successful,” said Russell.

While farmers selling products from honey to fresh produce receive top priority, food producers and artisans are also welcome to apply.

Vendors can sell products either weekly or occasionally.

As the market is committed to local, handmade products, all vendors must make, bake or grow a minimum of 75 per cent of the products that they sell at the market.

Potential applicants should allow 10 business days for approval.

For more information, please email Russell at [email protected] or visit https://ngfarmmarket.com/vendors/become-a-vendor/ to see what requirements are needed to file an application.
