The Pictou Landing First Nations community policing office will be closed for three weeks after it moved to the car park outside the fire hall.

The trailer office’s new address is 6606 Pictou Landing Road, a more easily accessible location than its old home next to the elementary school, where it was tucked behind a bush.

“It’s just being visible and being available in communities that don’t see a police officer as much as they’d like,” said Bryce.

Having moved into its new space on Wednesday, the police trailer is currently undergoing renovations and can house one or two police officers.

It serves as a small police post, with members able to access the RCMP computer and radio network, hear complaints and take statements from people.

Unlike a full police station, the trailer does not have any holding cells.

The community policing office has served Pictou Landing for several years.

The Pictou District RCMP also thanked the public for its patience while renovations are underway.

For non-emergency police services, criminal record checks and routine inquiries, the public can contact the Stellarton RCMP Detachment at 902-755-4141.

In an emergency, please call 911.
