Missing Lockhartville fisherman found deceased in Davidson Lake

BISHOPVILLE, N.S. – RCMP say they have found the body of a missing 83-year-old man from Lockhartville who was reported missing in the early hours of April 20, 2017.

The man, whose name is not being released at this time, was located in Davidson Lake shortly before 3 a.m. Firefighters were initially called to aid in the search around 12:45 a.m.

Hantsport Fire Department and West Hants Ground Search and Rescue assisted in the search.

The man reportedly left his home at approximately 2 p.m. April 19 to go fishing in Davidson Lake. Kings District RCMP was contacted by the man's family when he did not return home.

An autopsy will be conducted by the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner's Office. Foul play has been ruled out.

RCMP said in a media release that their thoughts are with the victim's family at this difficult time.

The investigation is ongoing.
